Mobilk - Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Bahrain (TRA) in cooperation with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) held a workshop on Child Online Protection starting on Sunday, the 14th of September.

The workshop involves several concerned stakeholders within the kingdom who tackled the challenge of making the internet a safer environment for children. When reached for comment; TRA Director of Cyber Security, Dr. Khalid Bin Duaij Al Khalifa ha stated that “Children in all societies today are pioneers, utilizing online spaces in ways that adults often cannot imagine. Their actions online can be very creative, but can also expose them to dangers adults may in most cases only barely understand.” Dr. Khalid has stressed the importance of understanding online threats in order to remedy the problem, and went on to say that “This workshop shall help all the stakeholders in understanding the risks and vulnerabilities children face, as well as to identify a framework for how national stakeholders could cooperate to develop the right tools to meet the challenge of protecting children online.”

Child online safety is a matter that TRA Bahrain considers as a major concern and an initiative that requires the efforts and cooperation of all concerned parties across the kingdom. The Child Online Protection Workshop is being held in the Ritz Carlton until the 16th of September.
