Mobilk - Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain held a workshop with mobile telecom operators from around the Kingdom on Thursday the 28th of July 2016 at its headquarters in Seef area to discuss an upcoming audit on mobile coverage and quality of services in Bahrain.
TRA’s Director of Technical and Operations, Mr. Mohamed Alnoaimi, said in a statement regarding the audit that, “There’s 2.8 Million mobile subscriptions in the country, and all of them should operate according to consumer expectations.” Mr. Alnoaimi continued, “We carry out the duty of verifying coverage and service quality on an annual basis to ensure consumers in Bahrain are getting the most out of their mobile services and for the public to make an informed decision when choosing services and operators.”
As a condition of their Individual Mobile Telecommunications License, Mobile operators are under an obligation to provide mobile coverage to 99% of Bahrain’s population that the TRA is responsible for verifying with respect to each operator. The audit will cover mobile billing, service quality, and network coverage. It will be begin as of August through to September and it is anticipated that the 2016 Mobile Audit Report is due for public release on December providing the public with comparable quantitative and qualitative data on the performance of mobile operators.
