TRA Honors the Youngest Emirati Writer

Continuing its distinctive efforts for the Year of Reading

Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has hosted the youngest Emirati writer, the child Hafsa Srour Jassim, within the initiative I read for you, one of TRAs initiatives for the year of reading. During the event, the Young writer has been honored, and her writings were presented to the TRA employees, in addition to shedding the light on her beginnings, and discussing the important role of the parents in exploring the talents of their children in early stages to help them developing their talents and turning them into real innovations.

The aim of I read for you initiative is spreading culture and exchanging ideas between the employees, as well as learning from the experiences of others through reading, as every book adds knowledge expertise to its reader that contributes in developing his personality and enables him to understand the world in a more sophisticated way.

For this initiative, each employee introduces a book of his/her choice to the colleagues and shares a summary about this book and its writer as well as other books for the writer. This would widen the horizons of knowledge among the employees and provide them with more options for future books to read. This initiative revealed the writing talent of some of the employees, as it allowed them to present their books and writings, in addition to allowing the attendants to exchange ideas and comments with the employee writer. It also encouraged others who have this hobby to publish their own books.

Commenting on these efforts, H.E Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of TRA, said: The TRAs recent win of the UAE Pioneers Award for the best federal entity encouraging its employees to read is a result of a series of initiatives organized by TRAs various departments and teams. Among these initiatives is he Reading Award, Minutes with a book and he Book of the Month. Moreover, e-reading culture is being enhanced through distributing smart readers that included a selection of books, in addition to establishing the Customers Happiness Library. These initiatives have helped in creating a positive state of intellectual and cultural interaction between the employees, as well as opening the doors for dialogue and discussion on various topics ranging from management and professional skills development, to cultural, scientific and social topics, which enriches the employees personality and widen his/her prospects in various fields.

So far, 46 books have been read out of 50 books, the targeted number for the end of this year. The number of participants in the initiative I read for you have reached 28 participants. Within this initiative, a number of well-known personalities from outside TRA have been hosted, such as Professor Amal Galal Sabry, the Managing Director of the Emirates Autism Center where she presented the book Autistic Children – Diagnostic and Programmatic Studies. Nevertheless, this initiative has encouraged an employee to present three of her own written books.

Engineer Tarek Al Awadhi, CEO of Spectrum Management Affairs has honored the young writer. It worth mentioning that the selection mechanism of the books is in line with the national objectives of the Year of Reading, and consistent with the UAE vision 2021. The discussed books varied between science and business to religion, culture and management, in addition to a collection of novels, poetry, political, historical, self-development, and ICT books, as well as articles.
