  • The Executive Team of the Network Readiness Index (NRI) Holds Its First Meeting

Mobilk - The executive team of the Network Readiness Index (NRI), which has been formed among the executive teams of the national agenda objectives 2021, has held its first meeting at the office of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities (TRA) in Abu Dhabi. 

Engineer Tariq Al Awadhi, the head of the team, has stressed on the importance of achieving the index objectives, among the national agenda objectives by 2021, through the creation of a regulatory environment for Information and Communication Technology. He explained that the NRI subdivides into several subjects related to education, business environment, legislation, purchase power, infrastructure, skills of individuals, business practicing, and economic and social impacts, which requires joint efforts and implementation of initiatives in these areas.

The TRA has reviewed the roadmap to achieve the NRI objectives, main challenges, and improvement areas. The participants presented their suggestions on the best ways to achieve the national agenda objectives.

Moreover, Dubai Courts and Etisalat have presented their achievements to raise the results of their related indictors, along with their plans to improve the countrys rank in these indicators.

The participants have stressed on the importance of coordination and collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the international organizations that work on collecting and publishing the indicators results, in addition to holding meetings with them to coordinate on the calculation mechanism of the index results, as well as adding new indictors as alternative to some of the current indictors.  

The Executive Teams... A working mechanism to achieve 52 national indexes..

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has directed last October on the formation of the executive teams of the national agenda, consisting of 550 officials of different entities, sectors and levels, to work on the achievement of 52 national indexes to measure the countrys accomplishments in leadership, happiness and welfare of society, within 6 national priorities: health, education, economy, environment and infrastructure, community, safety and judiciary.

The executive teams are tasked to develop integrated action plans that include initiatives of quick, medium and long-term impact, as well as suggesting joint sub-work teams to perform the tasks and initiatives, supervise the plan implementation using innovative tools, and coordinating with different government and international relevant entities, to ensure the implementation and performance results, and submitting periodic reports in this regards.
