Ooredoo Connects Rural and Remote Communities with Satellite Home Internet Plan

Mobilk - Committed to helping people across the country enjoy the internet, Ooredoo has introduced its Satellite Home Internet plan. Specially designed for those living in remote and rural areas, the plan is part of an initiative with Oman Broadband (OBB) and under the auspices of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to provide previously underserved communities with access to broadband internet, particularly students who are learning online. Available until 1 February 2021, the value-packed plan cost just OMR 15 per month on a 12-month contract and include 250GB of data, speeds of up to 6Mbps, as well as a free modem and installation.

Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Director of Marketing at Ooredoo, said, “Our aim is to make the internet accessible and affordable for all, no matter where they are in Oman. This is especially important given that many students are embarking on a new school year online. Our newest plan, the product of our collaboration with OBB and the TRA, utilise satellite connectivity to enable us to expand our reach and provide our customers with the best value and experience possible.”

As data experience leaders, Ooredoo has played a key role in supporting the country’s digital transformation goals, continuing to develop solutions that enrich the digital lives of all. Through network, technology and solutions investment, Ooredoo helps to position the country as an active player in global digital innovation.
