  • SAP Uses GITEX Technology Week to Amplify Latest Innovation Agenda

Mobilk - SAP will flex its innovation muscles at this year’s GITEX Technology Week, emphasising significant global shift towards a more nimble, efficient and unwired enterprise.

The company will have a prominent presence in the Mobile, Apps & Content World section at what is widely regarded as one of the world’s top information and communications technology (ICT) events, showcasing its market leadership position in areas such as mobile application and development platforms, mobile device management, mobile messaging, and mobile commerce services.

GITEX Technology Week runs from 14-18 October at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Boasting an 85% share of Fortune 100 mobile enterprise activity, SAP’s solutions in this field are currently trusted by 60+ million users worldwide.

The company’s solid position is underpinned by a massive global reach that includes processing more than 1.8 billion messages per day, reaching 5.5 billion subscribers, representing 90%+ of the world’s total mobile population.

And with information technology research and advisory company Gartner predicting that mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common web access device by 2013, SAP continues to invest heavily to stay ahead of the competition.

In April 2012, SAP acquired Syclo, a leading provider of enterprise mobile applications and technologies, adding industry-leading expertise in building and selling mobile solutions in industries such as utilities, oil and gas, life sciences and manufacturing.

The move also accelerated the adoption and deployment of new mobile asset management and field service solutions on Sybase® Unwired Platform, part of the SAP® mobile platform and the companys infrastructure for developing and managing mobile apps.

SAP and its partners currently offer 70 mobile applications to customers and there are more than 200 in the development pipeline.

According technology analyst IDC, SAP Afaria (data protection using enterprise mobile device management from SAP) is currently #1 in the Mobile Device Management market with 20% share, while the Sybase Unwired Platform ranks #2 in the Enterprise Application Platform market2.

Furthermore, Gartner has stated that SAP is the most proactive vendor in the mobile enterprise applications space.

“Mobility central to our innovation agenda and a powerful technology trend that has broad and deep impact across both the enterprise and consumer markets,” said Sam Alkharrat, Managing Director, SAP MENA.

“There are tremendous opportunities for companies that can help realize its benefits. We are proud to be at the forefront of the mobile revolution, and our ability to unwire core business processes is set to go from strength to strength in the coming years, particularly in the MENA region. SAP brings the power and simplicity of consumer mobile technology to the business world, helping to make ‘anytime, anywhere’ access on any device a reality through the widest range of mobile business apps and the most robust mobile platform around.”

SAP forecasts that its addressable enterprise mobility market is likely to stand at approximately $39B by 2015, growing at 53% CAGR1

“Among the trends shaping the mobile competitive landscape and fueling the demand for enterprise mobility solutions are the consumerization of IT, the demand for round-the-clock business connectivity and the explosion of innovative smartphones and tablets,” added Alkharrat.

Mobility forms a key part of SAP’s long-term global growth strategy to double its addressable market, reach 1 billion people and generate global revenue of € 20 billion by 2015.

SAP aims to achieve these goals through a multi-pronged innovation agenda comprising synchronized investments in five interconnected elements: extending a leadership position in Applications, broadening its footprint in Analytics, expanding its reach through Mobile, becoming profitable leader in Cloud, and growing the fastest in Technology and Database.

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is expected to make a notable contribution in this respect following a recent four-year additional investment plan, which includes recruiting more than 500 additional employees, opening several new offices and expanding the company’s partner ecosystem and the SAP® University Alliances program. Additionally, significant increases will be made in the availability of comprehensive, innovative and localized service offerings.

SAP also recently announced a ground-breaking Training and Development Institute in collaboration with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, which aims to certify 2,000 new consultants within the next four years, tripling the company’s existing consulting capabilities in the region, as well as accelerating and further extend the localization and Arabization of SAP® solutions.

The first mover initiative is structured to shape the region’s IT future through co-creating and innovating solutions with partners, customers and independent software vendors in fields such as mobility, HANA, cloud, urban management, smart city functionalities, and Islamic banking.

SAP’s stand at GITEX Technology Week will feature the company’s full range of cutting-edge ICT solutions and accommodate a number of its partner organisations, including Utopia, Wipro, Albilad Arabia, ProCons 4it, Red Hat, MDS and Clariba and Exxova. SAP will also be co-located at stands hosted by Blackberry, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Etisalat.
