during the festivities of Damascus Capital of Arab Culture 2008,Syriatel sponsors its first show of cultural nature Abed Azarieh

The general secretariat of the Damascus Capital of Arab Culture 2008 festivities in cooperation with the General Committee of Dar el-Assad for Arts and Culture invited Abed Azarieh to perform the first cultural activity in each of Damascus and Aleppo
 
This show was among many sponsored by Syriatel which was the first national company to sponsor such an event. The show was first performed in Aleppo under the title of “Nassib” (i.e. fate) on the 17th of January 2008.
 
“Nassib” is a musical work inspired from Andalusian literature of the 11th century and illustrates the Andalusian spirit. There was a mixture of two voices – Abed Azarieh and Anna Philip – sung in both Arabic and Spanish languages; the musician used three sets of musical instruments to his music: Arabic, Spanish flamenco, and Western Classical, with the participation of Arabic, French and Spanish musical groups.
 
The participation of the audience was distinctive as it was captivated by the music and lyrics sung by Abed Azarieh with the participation of the Sapnish singer Lazzan Ghania: (Simai Maa Poularia, Al-Hassan, Bayn Yadayk, Aya kamaran) . Spanish dances were also performed during the show.

During the show, Abed Azarieh delivered a speech in which he said: “ Our show tonight is a tribute to the Andalusian civilization, which could be describes as a miracle forged by the Syrian civilization and consecrated by the Umayyad Civilization; it is a civilization where people of different backgrounds mixed creating a society based on citizenship , which is more beautiful that today’s democracies.
 
It is worth mentioning that the song writer Abed Azarieh was born in Aleppo in 1945 and dwells in Paris since 1976. He has recorded many CDs in the Arabic language and published books in the French language.
