Orange Jordan launches advance Internet Protocol TV service

Orange Jordan, the sole integrated telecommunications operator in the Kingdom, has launched the advanced Internet Protocol TV service, “TV from Orange”, the first-of-its-kind in the Kingdom designed for broadband connection (ADSL) and Livebox. The service was launched in collaboration with INTRACOM TELECOM, and Arab Radio and Television Network (ART).

The launch ceremony took place during a press conference held on September 4 headed by Dr. Shabib Ammari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Telecom Group, Mr. Mickael Ghossein, Jordan Telecom Group CEO,Mr. Tamouh Khauli, VP JTG / CEO Orange Innovations and Corporate Integrated Solutions, and Mrs. Wassila Zitoune, Orange Home Vice President

‘TV from Orange’ provides its subscribers with high-quality broadcast TV, Video on Demand (VoD), and a host of new interactive services such as weather information as well as news and local information in addition to a number of unparalleled services. The offering will feature premium Arabic and international content.
“We are proud to launch the ‘TV from Orange’ service under the commercial brand Orange,” said Mr. Ghossein. “The launch of this service came as a response of Orange’s understanding of the needs of the telecommunications market while keeping up to date with the international trends and enhancing Orange’s position in the local market,” Ghossein added.

Ghossein went on saying that offering this service comes inline with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to spread the Internet culture and to position the Kingdom as a regional telecommunications hub.

Orange Internet will offer this service to its subscribers in two packages; the first will enable subscribers to watch 21 satellite channels for monthly fees reaching JD 25, while the fees of the second package will reach JD 30 for 25 satellite channels, and 1.5 JD's per Video on Demand.

As to encourage subscribers to benefit from this service, Orange Internet will provide free setup fees on “TV from Orange” worth 40 JD's.

Commenting on this Mrs. Zitoune said: “Offering this service by Orange Internet conforms to our ambitious plan in being always in the lead and keeping up to date with the international telecommunications industry. It is also a solid proof to the strength and rock-solid infrastructure of the Group; since our customers can use the latest high-tech Livebox as a base of innovative bandwidth services which provides a speed of up to 2 MG”.

Speaking about the Video on Demand service, Khauli pointed out that subscribers in this service will be able to watch the latest movies whenever they want with complete control over the movies they are watching.

Reaching the end, Mr. Khauli did a live demonstration explaining the privilege of this service and its technical components.
