Mickael Ghossein addresses the inaugural session of SAMENA

Mickael Ghossein, CEO of Orange Jordan and Chairman of SAMENA , addressed the inaugural session for the South Africa, Middle East, and North Africa Summit (SAMENA), which was held in Lebanon (put a date). The Summit, which discussed the sectors’ latest developments, was under the patronage of H.E Eng Gebran Bassile, Minister of Telecommunication in Lebanon.

The Summit was attended by leading wireless industry experts, key decision makers, regulators, and CEOs representing some of the leading organizations in the region. The participants’ discussions revolved around new technologies such as WiMAX, LTE and UMB. The summit also tackled the Broadband industry concerns, including Broadband systems criterion, service delivery and networks’ operating strategies.

“We thank the organizing commission for its effort in gathering leaders of the telecommunications sector here. Under this Summit, representatives of many telecom operators meet together for exchanging ideas and experiences in order to provide subscribers with new and innovative services,” said Mr. Ghossein.

Ghossein added: “The telecommunications role in developing the economy of a country affects the living standards of the society as a whole. We have plans to continue providing high quality services in line with Jordan’s efforts to bring in the latest technological, networking and telecommunication developments.”

SAMENA Telecommunications Council had announced Ghossein as Chairman of its council during the 'Convergence to Jordan' summit which took place in Jordan last November.

Orange Jordan has also achieved three awards in the awards ceremony that was organized, and for the first time, by SAMENA Telecommunications Council on the sidelines of the summit.

SAMENA Telecommunications Council is a tri-regional, non-profit telecommunications association that embodies a community of South Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African telecoms operators, manufacturers, regulatory authorities, and academia. The Council hopes to play an integral role at facilitating the cooperation and knowledge transferring into SAMENA region that spans over 25 countries.
