  • TRA-UAE Signs MoU with Cote dIvoires Agency for Universal Service Telecommunications (ANSUT)

Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cote dIvoires National Agency for the Universal Service of Telecommunications-TIC (ANSUT), in continuation of regulatory development efforts made by the Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications in Cote dIvoire (ARTCI), with an aim to fostering co-operation in information and communications technology (ICT) sector development, promoting digitization, and facilitating digital development in the Arab and the West African economies.

The agreement was signed on the occasion of the UAE National Flag Day, celebrated during the International Telecommunications Unions (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 (PP-18), which is currently being organised by the TRA and will run until 16th November at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). TRA-UAE, represented by H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of TRA, and ANSUT represented by CEO Euloge Soro-Kipeya and Diemeleou Amon Gabriel Bile, Director General of ARTCI, signed the agreement.

Commenting on the MoU, H.E. Al Mansoori stated: "The TRA is keen on cooperating with all the bodies working in the field of ICT, with the aim to reach the highest level of international coordination, in a way that helps bring benefit to everyone. We, in the UAE, seek to share our experience in developing ICT with various countries in the world, according to the directives of our wise leadership, which encourages co-operation and consultation to enhance human interaction to achieve greater success in digital service development."

He further said, "This agreement is designed to exchange information, experiences and expertise, hold joint workshops, symposiums, training courses, study visits as well as promoting best practices in developing the telecommunications sectors of both countries."

H.E. Al Mansoori added, "PP-18 provides a golden opportunity for knowledge exchange and for arriving at practical solutions that can accelerate the march towards sustainable development."

Euloge Soro-Kipeya said, "Cote dIvoire sees this important collaboration agreement as a new springboard for unleashing a wave of co-operation with the UAE in the field of ICT. Cote dIvoires thriving and digital communications-driven economy, in part can be attributed to the role that ANSUT has been playing in the country ever since it was created by the government in March 2012."

He added, "Through this international co-operation agreement signed with the TRA-UAE, ANSUT and Cote dIvoires government look forward to creating new possibilities with the UAE on bilateral basis, and to help fulfill the UN sustainable development agenda. The UAE has deep-rooted experience in ICT development and use, and in upgrading the government digitally in different sectors. We, in Cote dIvoire, look forward to benefiting from the Emirati experience in such tech-led socio-economic development."

The MoU was signed between the two countries in the presence of delegates from TRA-UAE, ANSUT, and ARTCI, and is expected to enhance foreign relations and bilateral ties, thereby creating a new co-operation driven connection between the UAE and Cote dIvoire.
