  • Huawei Leads Discussion on Role of 4G (eLTE) Technology in Public Safety

With public safety playing a key role in the government’s agenda, Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, is set to lead discussions on how public and private sectors can leverage ICT to provide more effective public safety services, at the Critical Communications Middle East Conference and Exhibition to be held between 14-16 September, 2014.

Personnel in government and Health and Safety Environment (HSE) officers in the Oil & Gas business need to provide reliable communication systems and devices that will ensure that its citizens or professionals on the field are physically safe from any potential harm. They must be able to respond to a variety of incidents that can range from building fires, chemical leaks to natural disasters. According to Huawei, integrating strong, reliable, and fast connectivity in large-scale organizations, will enable greater levels of seamless communication – even in the most critical of times.

Huawei maintains that Enterprise Long-Term-Evolution (eLTE) or more commonly known as 4G technology for enterprises introduces a far more reliable and faster means for communication to take place. In the event that a vehicle of an oilfield engineer breaks down on the way to the oil wells in a remote location, the engineer will be able to call for immediate help via its eLTE-enabled device. Similarly, unexpected civil unrest taking place somewhere in a city can quickly be managed by law enforcement officers using eLTE-enabled surveillance cameras that can quickly identify culprits through real-time monitoring and capturing video recordings. eLTE is set to change the way people respond and collaborate in the future.

Taking place at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, the conference is set to bring together thousands of attendees from across the government and private sector, offering vital insights into the key technologies that organizations can use to ensure communication networks are prepared for unforeseen capacity demands.

Dong Wu, President, Huawei, Enterprise, Middle East said: “Guaranteeing public safety through more integrated and innovative communication technology is key for organizations – especially for those that are responsible for the lives of its citizens and workforce. From public administration, energy to transportation sectors, organizations and entities of this size can not only provide a much safer environment but also facilitate faster time to market opportunities for businesses, thanks to enabling communication network technology that can be accessed in remote locations and ultimately, bring communities closer together in the process.”

Huawei experts will address topical areas including ways that eLTE provides mission critical communications, the potential for mission critical broadband and ‘Bringing 4G to the Middle East.’ A range of Huawei’s innovative communication and security solutions will also be showcased live at the show demonstrating the capabilities of eLTE broadband technology. These will include Huawei’s latest eLTE Public Safety solution especially designed to meet the needs of a highly-secured and reliable network for public safety. From professional Push-to-Talk (PTT) services to multimedia services such as live video sharing, Huawei will also showcase the latest eLTE-based Push-to-Talk (PTT) handsets, set to revolutionize public safety systems.

From the start, Huawei has featured prominently when it comes to Long Term Evolution (LTE) partnerships in the Middle East deploying the regions first ever LTE commercial networks in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Over the last two years, Huawei has further evolved its business offerings to become one of the fastest growing ICT providers in the enterprise market, working with customers in government, energy, transportation, education, and healthcare sectors on end-to-end smart city solutions.
