Mobilk - Under the patronage of H.E. Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, Governor of Buraimi, Nawras opened the Sultanate’s first-ever Instagram exhibition with 43 photos depicting ‘Oman.’ Held in the central lobby of Muscat Grand Mall, the opening was attended by Nawras CEO, Greg Young, along with management and members of the Nawras family in addition to photographers and the general public.

Nawras launched the photo competition on 17 November, inviting participants to photograph any subject representing Oman. To enter the competition participants simply needed to post a photo on Instagram with the hashtag #OmanOnInstagram to have their photos considered.

With over 2,300 photographs submitted, the independent panel of professional photographers were faced with a significant challenge in identifying the best 43 photos to be displayed in the exhibition. The top six photos were given additional recognition, with the overall winner receiving a Canon 5D Mark III professional camera to continue their passion for photography, while other the next five received iPhone 5S’s and a selection of other exciting prizes.

Greg Young, CEO of Nawras, commented, “Instagram has changed the way people interact with one another and remains one of the main communication tools that continues to gain popularity. Continuously striving to bring our customers closer, we used Instagram to inspire creativity and showcase budding photographers. We are very proud to have organised the first Instagram competition in the Sultanate and we look forward to everyone being able to visit and enjoy the photos in the exhibition.”

Visitors to the exhibition admired the variety and beauty of the Sultanate captured in the photos.
