Mobilk - In line with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’s Vision 2020 to develop a sustainable workforce, Nawras has continued its long-term commitment to the youth of Oman by supporting Muscat Youth Summit 2013 (MYS) in Duqm, The summit aimed to build the capacity of undergraduate students by exposing today’s youth to creative projects and providing them with the opportunity to shape the future.
Mutassim Hamood Al-Zadjali, Department Head CSR and Events at Nawras, said, “MYS is an exciting platform that provides the fastest growing section of our society with an opportunity to engage with one other, develop confidence, learn new skills and exchange ideas which will influence our future. We maintain a passion for the growth of young Omani talent and supporting the next generation to enhance their aspirations and accomplish their dreams.”
Nawras was the strategic sponsor of MYS 2013 which encouraged 100 students aged 18-24 and representing 20 countries to develop creative solutions under the theme of ‘This is Duqm’ to support the city’s expansion plans. Students were challenged in eight separate projects and given the opportunity to learn valuable skills from experienced mentors and project managers. The activities will help students channel their enthusiasm and creative passions into real-life scenarios.
HH Sayyid Faisal Al Said, Chairperson of MYS Organizing Committee, said, “Muscat Youth Summit brought together industry experts to discuss a range of urban issues and inspire the youth to play an important role in their community. With the support of Oman’s leading companies, MYS drives progress in education, enterprise, sustainability and architecture, as well as how we use technology to improve the quality of life for Omani citizens and develop a diverse and competitive economy.”
