Zain, a member of the leading mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa, Zain Group, used Microsoft’s latest version of Office SharePoint Server 2007 to run its new internet portal jo.zain.com, which was launched in parallel to the new brand launch on September 8th, 2007. The server provided subscribers with a total customer experience and expanded integrated services.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 supports all Intranet, extranet and Web applications across an enterprise within one integrated platform, which allows Zain users to have an easy and rich interactive experience with value added services. SharePoint Server 2007 also leads the market in the ease of integration and modification to support a dynamic and demanding market space.

By providing the portal, which was deployed by Microsoft Gold Certified Partner BEAT, Microsoft contributed to the successful launch of the company's new brand "Zain" by supporting company members in the launch of its new internet portal on time.

Country Manager of Microsoft Jordan, Zeid Shubailat, stated that "We are very proud to be part of Zain's re-launch and future growth plans. The company is a living example of how technology can be used for competitive advantage. We often find ourselves impressed by this esteemed organization’s use of our technology and platforms to impact business and customer loyalty."

The new portal helps complete the total customer experience that Zain is striving for, as data services within the mobile world have become increasingly important with more and more subscribers using their mobiles to access data on the Internet. Therefore, a strong Internet platform such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server will help turn Zain into a reliable data service provider.

Zain CEO Saad Nasir said, "The e-services that Zain customers can access through the new website, further demonstrates Zain’s position as a leading telecommunications service provider in the region. Services that can be conveniently accessed through the web include new line activation, online payment, online top up, as well as detailed billing information for post paid service subscribers.” Mr. Nasir went on to say, "This service is used by tens of thousands of customers every month, a service which Zain seeks to encourage more customers to use for their own convenience."

Nasir further noted that with the new Microsoft platform, Zain now has a plethora of tools and capabilities that it can use for the benefit of its customers. "We believe we are still scratching the surface of the platform in terms of what we can do with it, and we are amazed daily with the ease it takes to change and modify content and layout."

He also highlighted the role Microsoft technologies, and partner BEAT, played in helping Zain launch its new brand in such a short period of time. "Time to market was of the essence as we had only a three month window to completely re-brand and upgrade the features of the existing platform.” Nasir concluded, “I was very happy, and relieved, to see the website go live on time and in parallel to the new brand launch that took place on September 8th, 2007."

Microsoft SharePoint products and technologies were first introduced to market in 2001.  The 2007 release is an integrated suite of server capabilities, which can help improve organizational effectiveness by providing comprehensive Enterprise Content Management and Enterprise Search, accelerating shared business processes and facilitating information-sharing across boundaries for better business insight.
