Zain, part of the Zain group, the leading mobile operator in the Middle East and Africa, offered the Jordan University, winner of the University challenge competition grand prize, JD 10 thousand.
Zain, the official sponsor of the program, supports the university challenge competition for the fourth year running.
This comes as part of the company’s social responsibility policy through which it supports both the local education sector and the youth who constitute the majority of Jordanians, this in addition to being a program which helps students enrich and widen their prospects to encourage them to widen their horizons and prospects.
Both the university of Jordan teams and Al Hussun College had made it to the final stage after a competition which included 32 teams from various public and private universities. Said teams have been reduced to 16 teams in the second stage of the program which was produced by “Ebdaa Media” company. the program was hosted by Rana Sultan through 16 episodes which was aired on Jordan TV during the last 4 months.
Zain general manager Dr. Ahmad al Shatti said: “Based on the company’s belief in the investment in tomorrow’s young men and women, Zain focuses its efforts to support the youth and provide them with direct and indirect encouragement to enable them to become effective in serving their societies, adding that the company focuses its support on supporting initiative that mostly benefit the youth”.
It is worth mentioning that Zain offers a number of services that is targeted to the youth through spreading knowledge and through developing the education sector. Said services include offering the latest political, sport, religious and social news through sms, in addition to web browsing through mobile phones. In addition to that, the company has launched a number of initiatives to develop the education sector such as connecting students through an information base through providing all information that has to do with grades and educational resources through sms.
The company has also launched its education fund which provides 42 scholarships per year for excelling students as well as launching an artistic monument at Al Yarmouk and the first telecommunications lab of its kind at Jordan University for Science and Technology.
