An Unprecedented Level of Performance to Benefit all Subscribers
Mobinils decision to build a brand new network encompassing the latest communication technology reflects its comprehensive and futuristic vision. It was driven by the companys keenness on achieving an all time high level of performance that is tangible to all mobile users whether in terms of voice or data services. Mobinil did not only add 3G (third generation) services to its range, it built an entirely new network that will offer 3G and other services of the highest level in its entire coverage area throughout the country. The last few months have witnessed an incredible effort to increase the number of base stations installed hiking it to more than 6500 base stations, out of which 700 3G base stations and more than 2100 EDGE-enabled base stations to offer wider coverage for all populated areas in Egypt. This is in addition to the number of switches that were added and the enhancements that were adopted to the network infrastructure to operate on the highest systems of the new generation network technology. New frequencies made available through the 3G spectrum will strongly impact achieving the highest levels of efficiency and capacity to absorb the growing usage of Mobinil services by millions of its current subscribers, in addition to acquire the millions of customers expected to join the Mobinils family in the coming period.
The Largest Technology Partners in the World Partake in Mobinils Launch of its New Network
Mobinil was keen on establishing its new network through partnerships with the worlds largest companies who develop communication technology worldwide. Nokia Siemens Networks, along with Huawei have developed the 3G portion of the network, while Alcatel Lucent and Motorola cooperated with Mobinil to establish the 2G portion of the network. This is in addition to the cooperation with Cisco Systems and Ericsson to develop and enhance the network infrastructure to make Mobinils new network the hub of the latest and most developed communication technology worldwide.
Mobinils new network offers the latest 3G technology
Starting from the beginning of September, Mobinils new network will offer the latest 3G services to the large cities, touristic, industrial and corporate centers in Cairo, Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Dahab, Taba, Safaga, Marsa Alam, Luxor and Aswan, in addition to the industrial zones as well as petroleum fields and business districts. This 3G coverage will offer high speed download and internet communication and browsing with high capabilities. It is also planned that the 3G coverage will expand to cover wider areas to achieve comprehensive coverage for almost all regions.
Mobinils new network also offers a main feature, which is its wide coverage through EDGE technology which offers high speeds in data downloads reaching 8 times faster than GPRS. With this special coverage, Mobinil will be able to present to most of its subscribers who use data communication, downloads, email and internet the ability to send and receive data with incredible speeds and efficiency starting in September 2008.
Billions of Pounds Invested to Establish the New Mobinil Network
It would have not been possible to achieve this major accomplishment without availing the needed investment which suits the size of the targeted initiative. It was thus decided that a great investment was needed to be pumped into this project reaching more than 3.3 Billion Egyptian Pounds in 2007 and that figure was increased to about 4 Billion Egyptian Pounds throughout 2008.
There is no doubt that this incredible investment in the network infrastructure would be fruitful only with the investment of Millions of Egyptian pounds in other areas including training and development of network engineers and technical calibers to empower them with the technical skills to manage the ongoing and fast enhancement of Mobinils network.
