Oman’s most popular pre-paid mobile service extended to cover BlackBerry services to Hayyak customers    Muscat: Omantel has announced that customers to Oman’s most popular pre-paid service, Hayyak can now enjoy BlackBerry services for the first time as the company continues its commitment to delivering an enhanced customer experience across Oman.

The new pre-paid service will be available for a weekly subscription fee of only RO 2 enabling old and new Hayyak customers to use up to 1OMB for this low weekly price. Customers will be able to use the pre-paid service through a wide range of BlackBerry devices that are available through Oman Mobile, including the new Bold 9700, Storm (9500) and Gemini (Curve 8520) and the opportunity to benefit from the reduced prices during COMEX 2010.

In the past BlackBerry services were only available to post paid subscribers. Introducing the new pre-paid service comes as a direct response of the company listening to what their customers have to say.

The new service will enable individuals the freedom to carefully monitor their expenses when using Oman Mobile’s BlackBerry services through the pre-paid system.

Commenting on the new Hayyak for BlackBerry initiative, Ali Bait Fadhil Manager Pricing and Acting Senior Manager Marketing Planning and Performance, at Omantel said: “BlackBerry has become increasingly popular among our customers in Oman since we first introduced it to the market three years ago. In the past we have only offered the service through a range of post paid options.

“We are listening to our customers and now we are delighted to announce the introduction of BlackBerry services for Hayyak subscribers for the first time in the Sultanate making another achievement for the operator who was the first to introduce BlackBerry service to the Omani market three years back.

He explained that it is simple for people to subscribe to the new BlackBerry for Hayyak offer. All customers need to do is send an SMS stating BB to the number 90891 and follow the instructions. Additionally subscribers will be able to regularly check their balances to see how much of the 10 MB they have used.

The new offer is the latest from Omantel in a series of new and innovative products and services the company committed itself to introducing following the launch of its enhanced brand and “Together” tagline earlier this year.

Other exciting offers include a change to the off-peak time for Hayyak customers to start from 8pm until 6 am and a reduction in the tariff from 45 baisas to just 39 baisas per minute to help meet the growing demand from customers who want to speak longer for less
