Omantel First to Sign as Official Partner to 2nd Asian Beach Games

Muscat: Omantel has signed together with the Muscat Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (MABGOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) as the first 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010 Official Partner in a ceremony held under the auspices of His Excellency Ali Bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Sport Affairs and Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee.

With the product category of ‘Fixed and Mobile Telecommunications,’ Omantel will be providing MABGOC and the estimated 5,000 Games participants from across Asia with the highest level of telecommunications services and support during this first ever international multi-sport event to be held in Oman from 8-16 December.

OCA Asian Games Manager Haider Farman, MABGOC Director General Eng. Habib Macki, and Omantel CEO Dr. Amer Al Rawas who represented the three parties in the signing of a memorandum of agreement expressed their joint efforts to host a successful edition of the Asian Beach Games.

Commenting on the signing ceremony, Dr Amer Awadh Al Rawas, CEO of Omantel said “We are pleased to be the official partner of Oman’s biggest sports event this year. By being an Official Partner, we are sure that thousands of participants in this mega event will benefit from Omantel fixed, mobile and internet quality products. This agreement is another evidence of the support that Omantel provides to the Omani sports sector”.

OCA representative Haider Farman welcomes Omantel on board as Muscat 2010 Official Partner. “Omantel’s strong support is a best example of local communities’ anticipation and confidence of the 2nd Asian Beach Games success. We are happy to welcome this notable Partner on board, to deliver the best telecommunications services of Asian Games standards,” he said.

MABGOC Director General Eng. Habib Macki highlighted the importance of Omantel as the first Official Games Partner. “This is yet another milestone in the Muscat 2010 preparations and a major step in our marketing activities. In actualising the partnership with Omantel, we are actualising the various services for the Games. The OCA, MABGOC and Omantel will not only strengthen our association together to provide services in the lead-up to and at Games-time, but also to promote the Games and Oman as widely as possible,” he said.

The Muscat Asian Beach Games sponsorship structure is made up of three-tiers: Partner, Sponsor and Supplier, each of which comes with its own specific cost structure, rights and benefits. Macki revealed that MABGOC is in discussion with various other international and local corporations which have shown a keen interest in supporting the Games, and capitalising on the wide popularity of the event. “These organisations realise the opportunities the 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010 will bring to the Sultanate and the exposure that will be made available to them as we welcome 45 countries and regions from across Asia to compete in December of this year.”
