VIVA Partners with Google to Offer SMS Service

VIVA Bahrain has entered into a partnership with Google to offer customers a Google Gtalk SMS service which enables users to send SMS messages through their Gmail accounts to any VIVA number, as well as reply to the message from mobile handsets.
The service is a result of VIVA’s strategic tie-up with Google and continued effort to provide the most convenient solutions to customers to easily connect with their Gtalk friends from all over the world. Users can receive the messages from Gmail for free and reply to them from their VIVA numbers at the standard SMS rate of 25 Fils for Prepaid and 20 Fils for Postpaid.
“VIVA works on establishing partnerships with the biggest companies around the world to offer more to its customers,” commented Andrew Hanna, VIVA CCO. “Through this tie-up with Google, VIVA customers can now chat with their friends and family anywhere in the world without the need to even be online.”
Customers can activate this service by going to Mail settings in their Gmail accounts and choosing “Labs”, then enabling the “SMS in Chat” and “SMS in Gadget” options. After activating the service, users can log to their accounts and choose “Send SMS”, insert the name and mobile number of the receiver, and send their message in a matter of seconds.
