Mobilk - All around the world, the 12th Safer Internet Day was celebrated on Tuesday the 10th of February with the mission to create awareness on child online safety and this year’s global theme: “let’s create a better internet together”.
In honor of Safer Internet Day, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s Cyber Security Directorate joined in the activities by promoting Safe Surf awareness advertisements in Bahrain. In the interest of corporate social responsibility, the Authority has developed a first-of-its-kind 3D animation in Bahrain which will help educate youths and their guardians on the dangers of sharing your personal information with strangers on the internet.
Cyber Safety Specialist Ms. Mariam Al Mannai was quoted in saying “TRA Safe Surf team realizes that Child online protection is everyones responsibility, therefore we are trying to reach parents and children through an innovative medium to deliver this message and to highlight the importance of not sharing your personal information with strangers online.” Ms. Al Mannai continued on to say that “Just as you advise your child not to speak to strangers in the real world, parents and guardians should also remind them to use social media accounts, chat rooms, and instant messaging services responsibly and to Say No To Strangers as giving strangers any personal information can lead to serious harm to you and your family.”
The animation was developed in cooperation with Stage 25, a company the Authority has assigned to help create the right message which will be playing in all cinemas at Bahrain City Center for the next month.
