Mobilk - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, was awarded the 2012 Communitas Award by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) for its dedication to community service and corporate social responsibility.

“This recognition of Huawei’s volunteer efforts and socially responsible business practices reflects the significance of the programs they have implemented in the region. We hope that their work inspires others to carry on with similar projects” said Ed Dalheim, executive director of the AMCP.

As part of Huawei’s commitment to responsible corporate citizenship, it works to bridge the digital divide and improve the livelihood of the communities in which it operates.

“It is a great honor to receive this award that recognizes our efforts to help the communities in the region” said Edward Chen, Chairman of the CSR Committee, Huawei. “Huawei is committed and determined to creating value for communities by contributing to their continued prosperity, and we hope to expand our efforts into other markets in the future.”

Based in the US state of Texas, AMCP recognizes exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals for excellence in community service and corporate social responsibility with its Communitas Awards, which are an outgrowth of its pro bono recognition program. Communitas winners unselfishly give of themselves and their resources, and are changing the way they do business to benefit their communities.

Within the Middle East, Huawei has been active in the CSR arena particularly in the creation of opportunities through education, working with leading operators such as Etisalat and Batelco—as well as top universities and government entities—to establish training centers that provide insights on the latest global technologies, host regular workshops, and facilitate international knowledge sharing. Earlier this year, the company marked its fourth annual collaboration with Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in an international knowledge transfer program for Emirati engineering students to gain practical skills for a future career in the ICT held at Huawei’s global headquarters.
