Nawras, Oman’s customer friendly communications provider, held its annual ‘All Hands’ gathering recently in Muscat. Over two days, more than 1000 Nawras family members – as employees are known – met to review the previous year’s performance and address strategy for 2012. Addressed by Chief Executive Officer, Ross Cormack, the company reaffirmed its commitment to living the customer experience through its cores values of caring, excellence and pleasingly different.
“We had a great year in 2011,” Cormack said. “We continued to extend our WiMAX network with new sites and also added new 2G and 3G sites. In the last quarter alone, we extended network coverage in the Sultanate by a further 6,000 square kilometres and we are not stopping there. We also grew our Home Broadband customer base by 250 per cent in just 12 months and it’s great that so many people in Oman are now enjoying an internet service at home for the first time.
“Our passion for delivering services in a caring way is as strong as ever. We constantly strive to do things better than yesterday as we look after our customers in a pleasingly different way to create a wow factor that truly delights.”
Cormack also spoke about the advantages of Nawras being part of the Qtel Group, which for the past five years, has been the fastest growing telecommunications group by revenue, in the world. The Qtel Group is pursuing its ambition of ‘Enriching people’s lives as a leading international communications company’.
Nawras family members gave a rousing welcome to champion racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy who recapped the highlights of his highly successful performance as a Porsche Carrera Cup racing driver and one of the Middle East’s most successful sportsmen. He compared his goals with those pursued at Nawras. As Brand Ambassador, Ahmad spoke about the importance of teamwork to achieve victory and the need to always be performing at the highest level.
“I have been racing full time since 2006 and while 2011 was my best year in motorsports, I am now aiming to be standing on the podium even more this year. I would like to wish you all an extremely successful year too, as the Nawras family continues to do what it does best – delight customers with your unique style of service,” he said.
The event continued with an incredible display of sand art performed by finalist of Arab’s Got Talent, Shaima Al-Mugheiry. With skill, speed and precision, Shaima created and entertained through a selection of pictures drawn in sand, telling the whole history of Nawras and culminating in the Nawras logo with its familiar ‘Get closer’ tagline.
The day continued with discussions about living the company values, team building activities and a question and answer session with the members of Nawras senior management team. Customer Champions showed off their drama skills by taking to the stage to perform a series of sketches as they demonstrated the high level and caring style of customer service given by Nawras.
Throughout the day, family members took the opportunity to enjoy the time with their colleagues and to strengthen the family ties that help to make Nawras such a unique and special place to work. All Hands concluded with a renewed commitment to deliver the best customer experience in Oman.
