Under the auspices of Palestine’s Cellular Communications Ltd. Jawwal, INJAZ program to hold the contest of Student Company on 9 April, 2009, in order to develop potential and leadership skills for college students in Palestine. This contest is aiming to empower college students aged (16 – 17) years old to indulge in the midst of pioneering work through establishment and management of a real company with its own Capital and management, financial and functional structure, which would refine and develop collective and individual skills for students.
At the beginning of the contest, INJAZ will identify concepts and principles of establishment and management of business through “the company course”. This course is based on practical training for participants through establishing their own company with its all marketing, financial and managerial details under the direct supervision of Palestine private sector’s advisors. The participant, through the application of the course, will collect the company’s capital through selling shares to shareholders and selecting commodity or service produced by the company itself to market it. At the end of the course, liquidation of the company and distribution of profits to shareholders will take place.
During the current academic year, about 150 students were trained by five student companies, where National Insurance Company supervised students of Spanish Girls Secondary School while students of Arab Evangelical Episcopal School were supervised by Cairo-Amman Bank. Also, Housing Bank for Trade and Finance supervised students of Ahlieh Secondary College in Ramallah where the National Aluminum Profile Company/NAPCO supervised students of Kamal Jonblat Girls Secondary School from Nablus and Royal Industrial Trading Company supervised students of Widad Naser Al Din Girls Secondary School from Hebron. To create competition among students, contests for the best marketing programs provided by the students in each semester were held, then the projects will be subjected to evaluation and valuable prizes for participants will be granted with a value of 10000 $ as a first prize, 5000 $ as the second, 3000 $ as the third, 2000 $ as the forth and 1500 $ as the fifth and 1000 $ as the last.
Thus, a specialized committee will select the winning company which will represent Palestine in the regional contest to be held in the Republic of Lebanon, where 12 Arab states adopted INJAZ program will take part in the contest. Selection process and appreciation will go for innovative idea of pilot project.
Therefore, Randa Salamah, Injaz Falasteen Director, pointed out the importance of the company course and its impact on the participants. This course will strengthen participation and working within a team through establishment of the company, management and division of roles and duties between them. This course will help participants how to prepare a systematic plan for work within the company and promote them to collect information, study of local market, be familiar with terms, principles and issues regarding economy and business.
In this respect, Mr. Ammar El Aker, General Director of PCC Ltd. Jawwal said that INJAZ targets a segment as long as “Jawwal” has worked on developing its capabilities and enriching its experiences. He also said that “Jawwal” has previously gone in this direction through implementing many events and projects regarding youth and students, “Ana Jawwal” was one of the most projects where INJAZ is similar to it. During these events and projects, students would be practically trained for the management of Jawwal’s dealers established at many Palestinian universities; therefore, they will be able to apply their theoretical study on the ground.
Al Aker added that “Jawwal” looks to youth as the driving energy for the development and growth of society. Therefore, Jawwal is working hard so its services, plans, campaigns and projects will meet youth and students’ capabilities. Dardesh program ‘student line’ remains a big clue, which enables students talk with their friends with lower prices for SMS and 1- minute call. Al Aker confirmed that Jawwal’s efforts still ongoing in the area of the development of youth, because it is part of its vision in performing its responsibilities towards society.
