  • Ooredoo Supports the Fight Against COVID-19 in Sohar Hospital

Mobilk - Continuing their efforts to support the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19), Ooredoo is providing vital medical equipment and supplies to Sohar Hospital. The donation is part of a nationwide call for medical resources to mitigate any shortages as the outbreak continues to spread. The equipment will play an essential role in the effective treatment of COVID-19 patients, as well as protect frontline healthcare workers from the risk of infection. Part of Ooredoo’s Goodwill programme, which aims to help the community where it is needed, the initiative joins the country’s  effort to support Oman’s health services as they work to combat the ongoing pandemic.

Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Director of Branding and Communications at Ooredoo, said, “Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Ooredoo has made it our priority to join relief efforts. It’s the least we can do for our valued community and for our amazing healthcare services. Our doctors and nurses are working so hard under extraordinary circumstances and it is vital that they’re given the equipment they need to continue to keep us, and themselves, safe and well. By contributing to the cause and all working together, we will see Oman overcome these challenging times.”

Dr Majid Sultan Al Maqbali, Director of Sohar hospital, also commented, “We extend our sincere thanks to Ooredoo for its support in providing the necessary medical supplies to confront the pandemic. This initiative, and those like it, are so important as we deal with these exceptional circumstances. By providing the necessary materials it will ensure the continuous protection of our medical and paramedical staff during this period, as well as enable them to treat patients with high accuracy and speed.”

Ooredoo has announced a number of initiatives as it actively supports countrywide efforts to combat the pandemic. As well as the donation of medical supplies, it has enabled free access to educational websites and online communication applications as part of a collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to support students’ educational needs in light of schools closing down. The company has also provided support for returning students to the Sultanate in quarantine.

Customers can also access a number of promotions and offers to make their lives easier as they isolate at home, including unlimited national calls, extra internet speed and extra data.
