Mobilk - The public cloud services market in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is on pace to grow 21 percent in 2014 to total $747 million, up from an estimated $616 million in 2013, according to Gartner, Inc. Software as a service (SaaS), the largest single segment of the cloud services market in MENA, is expected to grow 28 percent in 2014 to $166 million.
Gartner predicts that from 2014 through 2018, $5.5 billion will be spent on cloud services in MENA region, $1.7 billion of which will be spent on business process as a service (BPaaS).
“The Middle East and North Africa region has demonstrated steady growth, and we predict continued growth through 2018,” said Ed Anderson, research vice president at Gartner. “Annual growth in public cloud services will average 21.5 percent from 2014 through 2018.”
SaaS is expected to grow from $130 million in 2013 to $432 million in 2018. IaaS is expected to grow from $61 million in 2013 to $161 million in 2018.
While growth in cloud services is high across all segments, growth in BPaaS will be lowest growth segment, expected to grow 8.2 percent over a 5-year period through 2018. Platform as a service (PaaS) is expected to grow from $35 million in 2013 to $112 million in 2018 as organization expand their use of cloud services for more sophisticated application scenarios.
