Statement about Unlicensed Mobile Network Coverage in the Kingdom of Bahrain

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority wishes to provide a clarification on the information that has been spreading through the local press and social networking websites, in relation to  the mobile network coverage of a telecommunications company licensed in a neighbouring country. This coverage has been found in a number of GCC states in addition to Bahrain. The said mobile network coverage is not powerful enough to be used by the subscribers in Kingdom of Bahrain, and does not represent any threat to the citizens or residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Authority is now working with concerned bodies in the Kingdom and in GCC states, and is coordinating with the International Telecommunications Union to resolve this issue.

For more information, please contact the Authority on 81188.
