  • SAP MENA Appoints Ghassan Abu Asba as Country Sales Manager for Kuwait

SAP MENA has announced the appointment of Ghassan Abu Asba to the role of country sales manager for Kuwait.

Reporting to Gergi Abboud, Country Manager for SAP Kuwait and Qatar, Abu Asba will be responsible for driving the country’s field sales operations and ensuring accelerated momentum across all verticals.

Abu Asba is a Middle East IT industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, including stints as Enterprise System Manager at Kuwait Computer Company and Kuwait Country Manager at HP, where he distinguished himself for overseeing headline-grabbing projects for clients such as Wataniya, Equate, Kuwait Stock Exchange, Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Finance.

In 2007, Abu Asba took on the role as Channel Manager at Cisco, focused on Kuwait and Bahrain, and, most recently, he was Regional Channel and Commercial Manager for Juniper in the North Gulf and Levant region.

Commenting on Abu Asba’s appointment, Abboud said:

“Kuwait represents a strategic priority for SAP, with businesses across the country seeking to deploy advanced software solutions that will enable them to gain competitive advantage and accelerate their business growth. Abu Asba’s solid industry and management experience will prove invaluable to SAP as we seek to seize every opportunity ahead and build on our success to date.”

SAP MENA is undergoing a period of robust growth and has ambitious plans moving forward.

100 + new employees have joined since August 2010 and new offices were recently opened in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Qatar. In November 2010, SAP MENA announced it would double its resources within the next two years, with the majority of headcount focused on solution delivery. Today, the region hosts more than 2100 qualified consultants and 75+ partners.

The company’s work in the region is not all about the bottom line, however.

Over the past year, the knowledge and vocation-inspiring University Alliance program has welcomed eight new members, bumping up the Middle Eastern membership total to 22, strengthening the company’s value among government entities and further cementing its ‘Employer of Choice’ credentials.

In Kuwait, SAP runs a strategic alliance with Kuwait University in the shape of a comprehensive certification program designed to support the needs of Kuwait’s growing knowledge-based economy.
