Mobilk - Although the UAE’s malls are ramping up for Xmas sales, increasing numbers of shoppers are likely to dodge the crowds and buy gifts online.

But with greater online activity comes greater risks from malware, phishing and SPAM sites, according to one of the world’s foremost online privacy and security CEOs.

 Consumers are forecast to spend around $7.36bn online during the first two weeks of December, up from $6bn in the same period last year.

Almost $1.5bn - or 20% – of that figure is expected to be spent using mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, according to the forecast from the e-retailers industry body IMRG and consultants Capgemini.
