Qtel today handed over to the Red Crescent a cheque generated by the revenues of the ETR numbers auction held at the company’s H.Q on Thursday, April1, 2008. The auction revenue was 7 millions and 51 thousand QR fully devoted for supporting the Palestinian people.
On this occasion, Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al-Thani – Qtel’s COO, presented the cheque to Dr. Mohammed Bin Ghanim Al-Ali Al-Meideed – Qatar Red Crescent Secretary General in the presence of Mr. Kassem Radwan charge d’affaires of Palestine embassy in Doha and Mr. Talal Al Abdullah manager of the corporations and charities in Qatar Charity Works Authority. “I extend my thanks to Qatar Red Crescent for its philanthropic efforts in aiding the devastated people in Qatar and in many areas in the world. Qtel’s support to our brothers in Palestine is a deed dedicated by a fraternal and human duty.
This relief comes as an endeavor of the company’s commitment to its social responsibilities in general and specifically to the communities and areas where the company has presence. As we are aware the company’s operations expanded over the last year to include “16” countries in which Palestine is amongst them. We wish all progress, prosperity liberal life to the Palestinian people and hope all calamities and misfortunes to end soon.” Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al-Thani said.
“I have nothing to say, but extending my plentiful thanks and gratitude to Qtel for its generous support to our people in Palestine. Qtel is well known for its great social contributions to ill-fated and needy people in and out of Qatar. The Palestinian people are currently experiencing harsh circumstances and we have to utilize all available means to provide them with the best aid possible. Undoubtly, Qtel’s support to the Palestinian people has come in the appropriate time and will have a positive impact on our families’ morale. Qtel‘s collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent is a philanthropy sign carried by a national company well known for its achievements and contributions. We hope other companies to follow in the footsteps of Qtel.” Dr. Al-Meideed said.
Qatar Red Crescent is responsible for handing over human aids from Qatar to different areas in the world will undertake the process of delivering the financial support allocated by Qtel to our people in Palestine.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar Red Crescent diligently works to alleviate human sufferings, protect mankind and public health and improve understanding, friendship and mutual assistance among peoples. Qatar Red Crescent is an independent organization. Although, the Red Crescent National societies adheres to the laws and regulations of the country that it’s operating in, it’s still confined to the principles of the International Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization.
