A new world of easily-accessible online content is available for mobile-phone users in Qatar, with the launch of Qtel’s Shahry Mobile Internet Packs.
The packs offer a range of download options, from 50 MB through to a massive Unlimited plan, which enable customers with enabled phones to download e-mail, movies, music and games from the Internet via highly-affordable data plans.
These are the first dedicated data packs ever made available in Qatar, and reflect an important step forward for mobile Internet.
Designed to match the lifestyles and data needs of people across Qatar, the new Mobile Internet Packs empower customers to match their monthly data downloads to their budget, and ensure people get maximum value for their online time. With Qtel’s world-class Internet network, customers can access online content across Qatar with great indoor and outdoor coverage all day, every day.
Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Group Communications, Qtel said: “People are using their mobile phones in a wider range of ways than ever before, and, at Qtel, we want to make sure they our customers feel fully empowered to use mobile Internet to its best advantage.”
“With people using their Smartphones as home offices and portable entertainment devices, it is essential that a range of Data Plans is available to match their diverse needs,” he added.
Any customer with an enabled-phone can use the Mobile Internet Packs, and the Packs work best with a 3G Smartphone on Qtel’s high speed 3.75G network.
The new data packs are available in 50MB, 250 MB, 1 Gigabyte, 3 Gigabyte, and Unlimited Plan options. Mobinet customers upgrading from the current 2MB data plan can increase their data allowance to 50MB for only QR 5.
The 250 MB and 1 GB Plans are available for QR 50 and QR 100 respectively, offering a huge download capacity at a very competitive price.
The 3 Gigabyte and Unlimited options have been designed for more frequent users who download movie clips or large files, and at just QR200, and QR 400 respectively, provide tremendous value for existing customers who use Mobile Internet as part of their daily lives.
Smartphones like the BlackBerry and iPhone are fast gaining in popularity in Qatar, because of their advanced range of features and computer-like functionality. Qtel has invested significantly to ensure that the network and available services keep pace with this demand, as part of the vision to help drive the knowledge-based economy of Qatar.
With people continuing to change the way they use the Internet from their mobile phone, Qtel is focussed on providing a long term and sustainable mobile Internet proposition that fully supports the needs of the community.
The introduction of new data plans is another important step in this long-term strategy for development, and ensures that people are able to fully manage their access to the Internet via their mobile phone.
Shahry customers with 3G-enabled phones can purchase Mobile Internet Packs from 111, or visit any Qtel Shop or Premium Dealer, and get started immediately.
As an additional option, Shahry customers can choose Internet Pay As You Go. Downloading is currently priced at QR 10 per MB.
For Shahry Value Pack customers, their inclusive data allowance is used before the Mobile Internet Plan allowance begins to be consumed.
Customers are kept informed by SMS when they have used 80 percent of their allowance, and – if you go over the allowance – Qtel lets customers know exactly how much they are being charged for each excess Megabyte (MB) that they use.
Customers may use their Mobile Internet Pack across Qatar to get online on their mobile. However, for roaming outside Qatar, any data used is not included in the Shahry plan allowance, and roaming rates by country will apply.
Qtel continues to offer an ever-expanding range of Internet options, and was the first company to offer free mobile internet browsing through its Mozaic Mobile service, as well as access to a huge library of ring-back tones, music, video and TV services.
