Etisalat Academy, in collaboration with Omantel, today announced the launch of the EasyLearning initiative in the Sultanate of Oman. The initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Labour in Oman, has been adopted as part of a plan to increase specialized skills of pre-university and post-graduate students across the country. In addition, the initiative would also focus on better preparing and qualifying professionals of both government and private sectors through training courses and other internationally certified degrees covering a wide range of administrative and technical sciences.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Labour and Omantel to successfully launch EasyLearning in the Sultanate. Signing the MoU were, Hamed bin Khamis Al A’amri, Undersecretary for Technical Education and Vocational Training at the Ministry of Labour and Dr. Mohammed Bin Ali Al Wohaibi, Chief Executive Officer, Omantel. Dr. Doaa Fares, General Manager, Etisalat Academy, Ahmed Al Ali, Business Development Manager, and other representatives from Ministries, corporations, and IT institutes were present to witness the signing.
The MoU states that Omantel will offer the service and will introduce high speed Internet centres across Oman and offer the EasyLearning pre-paid card. The Ministry of Labour, will take responsibility in training and educating the community about EasyLearning, a programme designed for countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
Ali Mohammed Al Sharid, Chief Executive Officer Etisalat Services, said “The initiative, which was honored by the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and President of the United Arab Emirates University, is now being launched in the Sultanate Oman, in coordination with the international organization represented regionally and internationally by the Academy. The Academy has proven its renowned capability of preparing and developing professionals from organizations of government and private sectors regionally and internationally.”
Dr. Mohammed Bin Ali Al Wohaibi, Chief Executive Officer, Omantel praised that Etisalat Services, represented by Etisalat Academy, for this initiative. He expressed that Etisalat has distinguished itself by supporting new and advanced initiatives in public awareness, increasing professional levels and employee competency. He also commended Etisalat Academy for the capabilities, services and advanced facilities that Etisalat provided towards establishing the Academy, which is considered the only regional premises for preparing professional cadres of all specializations and careers.
Dr. Doaa Fares, General Manager of Etisalat Academy, said: “The Academy’s decision to adopt the EasyLearning project reflects our educational capability and strengths. UNITAR, representing the UN, has adopted this initiative to support and develop the electronic educational environment within the region, and the first bouquet of educational and training program has been finalized. It includes around 600 training courses and many other internationally certified degrees covering a wide range of administrative and technical sciences”.
He added, “These programs were designed with a special focus on direct education, wherein the number of courses increases and its content is constantly updated by a leading Canadian institute specialized in the industrial sector”, he added.
In addition, the program aims at rehabilitating graduates from different levels while providing them with the required skills to enhance the efficiency of their performance, and to help them strike a balance between academic theory and the professional applications that they need
