Nawras is known for its caring role in society and being involved in improving the lives of those less fortunate in our community. Joining hands with Al Wisal Radio, Nawras is launching an appeal for new or good condition second-hand toys, books, games and DVDs to be collected for children fighting cancer at the Royal Hospital.
Colourful collection boxes have been placed at the main Nawras Store in Al Athaiba as well as other Nawras Stores in Ruwi, Qurum City Centre, Muscat City Centre and Al Seeb. Donations can also be left at Al Wisal headquarters in Sabco Building and CentrePoint at Ruwi, Al Khuwair and Muscat City Centre.
The two entertainment centres at the hospital’s cancer wing will be renovated by Nawras; redecorated with colour schemes that appeal to children and a safe flooring surface installed. The rooms will be equipped with large screen televisions, DVD player, PlayStation and computers.
Commenting on this drive, Usama Abdullah Al-Saifi, marketing specialist, explained: “Nawras is a caring company and receives many requests for help. Through the actions of our own people and others within the community who share our wish to make a profound difference, we believe we can be instrumental in improving the lives of these children. We ask everyone to help us reach as many children as possible by joining in this campaign to support these brave children suffering with cancer. Whatever size of contribution is made, it could well be one of the most rewarding things you do.”
Nadim Attieh, Station Manager from Al Wisal thanked Nawras for its support and help in promoting this deserving cause. He said, “We are really hoping for a big response to this call for toys, games and books. If anyone wants more information on how to donate, they are welcome to call 96903111 between 9am and 5am. These children did not choose cancer but we can all choose to help them and make their lives brighter.”
Nawras Customer Champions have demonstrated how much they care in the past and they are also participating in this campaign with their usual enthusiasm. The container placed in the middle of the customer service centre is filling up fast thanks to their generous and heartfelt support for the children.
Nawras is a caring company with an active corporate social responsibility programme which extends far and wide. The most well-known initiative is the Nawras Goodwill Journey which takes places annually during Ramadan. Company volunteers travel the length and breadth of the country, delivering needed equipment and spending time with those attending and working in Oman’s charities.
Recipient of the Middle East Business Achievement Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, Nawras is keen to support this appeal for toys, books and games to see smiles of happiness spreading across the faces of these most-deserving children.
