Ooredoo Sponsors Muscat Football Academy at the Dubai International Super Cup

Mobilk - Ooredoo and Muscat Football Academy (MFA) teamed up to allow Oman’s footballing stars to take part in the Dubai International Super Cup. With 13 nations competing for trophies and top honours, MFA made Oman proud by defeating the other teams to return as overall winners of the tournament and bagging a total of four trophies in four different age categories.

“Ooredoo congratulates Muscat Football Academy’s outstanding performance and record-breaking achievement; this is truly something that the whole country can be proud of and we are thrilled that we were able to be a part of it,” said Kumail Al Moosawi, Chief People Officer at Ooredoo. “Given the right opportunities, Oman’s footballing teams have proven that they can shine on the world stage and take on some of the best international talent around. We look to empower sportspeople in every sport and discipline, not just in their performance and attendance of competitions, but in their growth as individuals, both on and off the pitch.”

At the event, the Under 18’s group won the Super Cup, accompanied by sterling performances from the Under 14’s and the Under 10’s, who both took the Challenge Cup for their respective ages groups. The Under 12’s went on to make the Sultanate’s success complete, scooping the Trophy Cup in an amazing show of talent that affirmed Oman’s position, above and beyond the 13 other nations.

Chuck Martini, General Manager and Head Coach of all Academy teams, commented, “To come away with four cups is an outstanding achievement; our players, coaching staff, parents and supporters were all integral to our success, and provided brilliant support. Together, we have returned as champions, as a team and as a family; for this, we offer our sincere thanks to Ooredoo.”

As one of the ways that Ooredoo supports human growth, this latest success by MFA is added to a list of recent sporting achievements, including its recent celebration of the Oman Equestrian Federation team and support of employee Laila Al Harthy, who took part in the GCC bowling championships. Other recent activities saw the company team-up with Paris-Saint Germain, to give local football stars the chance to learn from world-class sports coaches.
