Mobilk - As part of the company’s CSR work and in support of UAE’s ‘Year of Giving’ initiative, Thuraya has set up a sharing fridge during Ramadan for a second consecutive year. Known as the Thuraya Sharing Fridge, the campaign takes inspiration from the regionally-recognized movement started in Dubai last year with an aim of helping local blue-collar workers with a fully stocked fridge. This initiative has since grown into a dedicated effort with fridges all around the city, supported by the Emirates Red Crescent and entirely managed by resident volunteers.
While Thuraya implemented the initiative last year with a community fridge set up during the last ten days of Ramadan, the program has since been revamped; this year, two fridges were placed outside the Head Office on the first day of Ramadan and will run throughout the course of the holy month, equipped and ready to serve community workers. “We’ve re-launched the sharing fridge campaign this year to give food and drinks to those who work in the outdoor heat. It is a small way to help other people, particularly the less fortunate, through an act of kindness during this blessed month of charity and giving,” remarked Ahmad Al Shareef, Chief Human Resources Officer at Thuraya.
The fridge is stocked with drinks; yoghurt; vegetables and fruits; cookies and muffins; and bread. Thuraya staff are wholly participating in the initiative and are actively striving to keep the fridge filled with fresh food contributions.
