Mobilk - In an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports, Ooredoo announced that it will officially sponsor the Arab Bowing Championship that will start on March 24th until the 31st. Organized by the Arab Bowling Federation, the week-long event, held at Al Seeb Bowling Centre, is the 8th championship for men and the 4th for women teams. The tournament will attract renowned players from the Federation’s 10 Arab member countries who have carved a name for themselves internationally.
Raed bin Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo said, “We are delighted to support this traditionally social and inclusive sport on a professional level. It is vital for Ooredoo to support activities that benefit the community in a thrilling and fun manner”. He added: “Ooredoo believes in pursuing dreams, for that we wanted to be part of a fair competitive environment that flourishes on team work, excitement, and entertainment. For that reason, we decided to sponsor the Arab Bowling Championship in Muscat and wish all the teams good luck!”
Oman’s first participation in the Bowling tournament was at the UAE tournament, not long after the establishment of Oman Bowling Committee in 2013. Their second participation was only two years later in Bahrain, where both men and women teams competed. Currently, there are 10 participating men teams: Oman, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iraq, each with six primary players and two substitutes. Women will be represented by six teams: Oman, Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq and Egypt with four primary players and two substitutes. In 2017, the Omani women team returned home with gold medals and are prepared to defend their title in 2018.
