Ooredoo Keeps Quarantined Students Connected

Mobilk - As part of Ooredoo Goodwill, the Company’s CSR activities, Ooredoo has joined hands with the Ministry of Social Development to provide with free SIM cards, free calls and 50 GB of data to stay connected while in quarantine. The support allows students in their own houses in Oman, as well as those returning from abroad, to continue their studies as well stay connected, while they wait out the important isolation period before returning to their homes.

Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Director of Branding and Communications at Ooredoo said, “As a community-focused company, we are guided by a vision to enrich people’s digital lives. Being in isolation is not easy on anyone, especially during challenging times when you are so close to home, yet feel so far. We hope students will feel less alone and can maintain their social lives with Ooredoo’s high-speed internet providing more connectivity for as long as they want.”

The contribution comes as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the global economy and create new challenges for society every day. As people across Oman practise social distancing, Ooredoo hopes to alleviate the strain on social relationships and help maintain a sense of normality for people, especially the nation’s youth. Encouraging the public to stay home and abide by official directives, Ooredoo are also prioritising their responsibility in keeping the local community informed and connected for everyone’s wellbeing.
