Muscat: Starbucks announced today the launch of wireless internet access (WiFi) across all Starbucks stores in the Sultanate of Oman, in partnership with Omantel, the largest national telecom operator in the Sultanate of Oman. On this occasion, a special ceremony was held to launch the service in the Starbucks store located in Jawharat Al-Shati in Muscat, attended by representatives from Starbucks and Omantel.
Starting from March 3, 2010, Starbucks customers with WiFi equipped laptops or PDAs can enjoy free WiFi services for a duration of one hour linked to purchase to surf the internet at Starbucks.
Omantel hotspot service is based on Wireless Fidelity WiFi technology which is currently the prevalent wireless technology for mobile computing and is now a common feature for high-end mobile phones and PDA's.
“At Starbucks we aim to provide a convenient and innovative third place experience between home and work where customers can spend time and relax with friends and family and enjoy their favourite coffee beverage. With this partnership with Omantel, our customers can now enjoy Wifi in their favourite Starbucks to make their Starbucks Experience even more enjoyable than before," said Rana Shaheen, CSR & Communications Manager for Starbucks ME and Egypt.
Highlighting the initiative, Huda bint Abdullah Al Habsi, Senior Manager of Product Development of Omantel Corporate Business Unit said: "We are delighted to partner with Starbucks to provide WiFi Internet services in all the Starbucks branches in the Sultanate. Starbucks customers can now enjoy their coffee and use of WiFi wireless Internet service from Omantel with many excellent features."
