As part of their ongoing commitment to supporting the Bahraini community, Batelco is sponsoring a number of events for the Abu Quwah Sports and Culture Centre during 2010. Two events, in support of the environment and education have already taken place, with two more sports events to follow later in the year.
Batelco Group General Manger Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi said that Batelco was very pleased to support Abu Quwah Sports and Culture Centre as their calendar of events complements Batelco’s agenda to support environmental initiatives and also education and sports in the community.
The Club held a ‘Week of the Tree’ in March, during which they conducted several awareness workshops about the environment and in cooperation with the Municipality Council they planted a number of trees in the area. The Club also held a number of computer skills training courses, free of charge, for their members and residents of their community.
In June the Club will participate for the first time in the Al Shourwa and Parliament Council Football Tournament and also participate in the Sehla Centre for Youth Football Tournament.
“Such events provide lots of opportunities and entertainment for residents of the Abu Quwah area and we wish the organisers every success in their endeavours,” added Mr. Al Janahi.
The sponsorship cheque was presented by Batelco Public Relations Manager Osama Alsaad to Abu Quwah Head of Maintenance Committee Shaker Abdul Hadi when he paid a visit to Batelco’s HQ at Hamala recently.
