Batelco Hearts & Minds, a group of Batelco volunteers that regularly participate in community initiatives, recently visited a number of Health Centres to present gifts and flowers to nursing staff in appreciation of their efforts in providing health services to the community.
The visits were arranged in celebration of International Nurses Day which is an annual event begun in 1965 to honour the memory of Florence Nightingale, the famous English nurse who laid the foundation of professional nursing with the establishment of a nursing school at St. Thomas, London, in 1860.
Batelco Hearts & Minds visited Health Centres in Riffa, Um Al Hassam and Isa Town where they were welcomed and praised for their kind gesture of appreciation towards the nursing staff.
“The wonderful work that nurses do often goes unnoticed so our Hearts & Minds Committee wanted to let them know that their efforts are very much appreciated not just on the occasion of International Nurses Day but throughout the year,” said Batelco Group GM Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
“The activities of the Hearts & Minds group support Batelco’s Social Responsibility programmes. Annually, Batelco contributes financially to a wide range of health, education, sports and cultural projects,” he added.
The Hearts & Minds Group, which was formed in 2007 as part of Batelco’s commitment to the community, reaches out to those less fortunate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
