Saudi Telecom STC celebrates its million Afaq DSL customer soon

The Saudi Telecom Company (STC) is taking fast steps to achieve an unprecedented milestone on a regional level in the field of Broadband services, with its ambitious goal of reaching customer number million in their Afaq DSL category. This highlights the influential and pioneering role the company has in offering both wired and wireless broadband services to the Saudi public which would help in transforming it to a knowledge-based society. It would also Saudi Arabia in the forefront of regional countries in terms of advanced infrastructure and high-speed broadband connection, which would accomplish the most important and hardest part in realizing governmental goals that aims to develop E-government services in accordance to international standards.

Eng. Saud Al-Daweesh, the President of STC, states that reaching the million customer would be a an important move and a technological leap that was achieved in record time considering the size of the Kingdom and the many challenges stemming out of building a giant infrastructure in a land of diverse geography. Eng. Al-Daweesh, further explained that Affaq DSL have experienced strong growth which reflects costumer demand for it due to its reliability and moderate pricing.

The DSL service witnessed a high rate of reception by all measures, with an increase from 51,000 costumers in 2005, and the number is expected to reach a million customers by the end of the year. A lot of the demand is attributed to massive efforts by the company to expand the infrastructure with fiber-optic networks and MSAN.  In addition, STC activated the biggest internet link on a regional level
About this upcoming achievement, Eng. Aldaweesh said that the company was able, in a short period of time, to promote broadband services featuring up to 20 megabytes through generous and consecutive offers with Affaq DSL and Affaq DSL Shamel, while maintaining reasonable prices that meets the needs of all segments of society.
