Mobilk - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced a strategic partnership with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team ahead of upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, which kicked-off on the 16th April, 2014 in Dubai.
Starting its seventh season, the first phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began on April 16 and will continue until April 30. Sixteen matches will be played in United Arab Emirates at three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. India will then play host to the final, which will be held on June 1, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The RCB team won its inaugural match on April 17 against the Delhi Daredevils in Sharjah by 8 wickets. They then went on to beat the Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets on April 19 in Dubai. The team also faced the Kolkata Knight Riders on the 24th of April in Sharjah. Two further matches will take place on 26 and 28 of April against the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, respectively.
Huawei will be designated as the principal sponsor of the Bangalore-based team which is captained by super star Virat Kohli. The partners unveiled the new RCB team jersey, which features the Huawei logo on the front of the jersey as a principal sponsor of the team. Huawei will also have significant brand exposure around RCB’s home ground, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, along with in-stadium promotional rights. To expand the mutually beneficial contours of this partnership, both partners will shortly launch a series of joint marketing initiatives to engage with their respective fans and consumers across India.
