Huawei Signs Partnership with Edutech Middle East to Launch Innovative Smart Education Solution at GESS 2016

Mobilk - With the advent of a true knowledge economy developing across the region, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider–has partnered with Edutech Middle East—a leading provider of learning solutions and services for academic institutions, companies and governments—to launch a Smart Education solution, which improves student interaction through active learning and making classrooms borderless, at the Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS). 

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, GESS showcases the latest in educational technology, supplies and learning solutions welcoming thousands of regional and international educators every year. 

Strengthening their commitment to developing the education sector in the Middle East, Huawei and Edutech Middle East, its official technology partner for the education industry, launched the new Smart Education solution to extend the availability of active learning for students and enables teachers to empower greater collaboration inside and outside the classroom.

The new Smart Education solution falls under the banner of Huawei’s e-Classroom technology portfolio, offering better interaction between teachers and students. Teachers can use the technology to develop effective courseware and lesson plans for students that can be shared with students through their digital devices. The solution also provides educators borderless wireless connectivity and seamless mobility, allowing the use of any handheld devices. Teachers are able to conduct classes with students who may be sitting across different campuses at the same time, allowing more access to professors and extend the opportunity to learn. It also allows for the introduction of Echo360’s, Active Learning Platform that records the instructors lecture and all student activities related to the lecture, during and after class to significantly enhance student engagement and provide valuable inputs to instructors to improve learning outcomes.

During the demonstration, Huawei and Edutech Middle East showed how the solution can make a measureable impact to the availability and quality of education through the implementation of borderless classrooms and e-learning tools.

Following the solution launch, Perry Samson, Professor, College of Engineering, University of Michigan, Department of Climate & Space Sciences gave a presentation titled “Measuring Student Behaviors during class to predict Exam Scores” as part of the GESS agenda. Perry gave a live demonstration of Huawei and Edutech Middle East’s Smart Education solution. During the presentation, Huawei’s TE30 Video conferencing solution was used live in action to record the session

Aside from its e-Classroom and Smart Education solution, Huawei has a wider range of Education technology that it believes is helping equip educators with the right technology to make an impact on learning environments. These include its Agile Education Campus network solution, its Agile Bus solution, its Education WAN, Education cloud – including its cloud virtual desktop infrastructure and school cloud micro data centers – and its Safe Campus CCTV Surveillance solution. 

Huawei has also forged alliances with public sector educators like the Higher Colleges for Technology (HCT) in the UAE, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) in KSA and private sector schools such as Sherborne College in Qatar to implement its wide portfolio of Smart Education solutions. The implementations have helped to make a measurable impact on the quality of education for their students. Huawei has had further success in Saudi Arabia deploying its e-Classroom and Education Cloud solution within Al Jouf University and an enhanced interactive Smart Education solution to King Fahid Univeristy of Petroleum and Minerals.
