The new BlackBerry 9700 Onyx handset is to launch in November, Mobile News understands.
Dealers say their network partners and distributors have told them the device will be available on Orange and Vodafone, with T-Mobile expected later.
The device is an upgrade to the current BlackBerry Bold 9000. BlackBerry refused to comment on the handset or its launch date, although it is understood a number of people in the industry are currently trialling the handset. It is expected to be placed as high-tier.
Dealers claim the device is a cross between the Bold and recent 8520 Curve, including the new track pad, replacing the problematic roller balls used to navigate around the device. It is also expected to include GPS, Wi-Fi, black leather grain battery cover and full QWERTY keypad. Camera is upgraded to 3.2 megapixel.
