  • Seagate Pursues Emerging Storage Frontiers at GITEX 2014

Mobilk - Seagate—a worldwide leader in storage solutions—will have an expanded presence at this year’s GITEX Technology Week with visitors able to preview how the company has extended its capabilities to serve an even broader customer base in the future. In particular, the company will demonstrate the results of strategic investments in emerging storage frontiers such as higher-capacity storage solutions, more power-efficient drive technology, as well as new cloud and flash-based storage systems.

“The resulting advancements will be seen across Seagate’s storage lineup being featured at GITEX 2014, which will include the industry’s broadest portfolio of hard disk drives, solid state drives, and hybrid drives in addition to an extensive line of retail storage products for consumers and small businesses,” says Mr. Sofocles Socratous, VP of Sales & Marketing EMEA at Seagate.

Over the last year Seagate has made a number of aggressive advancements within the global storage sector. Amongst those developments has been another major inroad into the flash storage market with Seagate’s $450 million acquisition of LSI’s flash business from Avago. Seagate has also made further expansions on its surveillance portfolio, releasing its seventh generation of Surveillance HDD drives as well as founding a Video Surveillance Systems Solution Center to help customers identify which technologies will best support their security system needs.

On the consumer front, Seagate has unveiled a string of products set to define the next era of personal storage. Amongst the releases being showcased at GITEX 2014 is the world’s first portable 4TB storage device—the Backup Plus FAST—as well as the world’s thinnest 2TB portable storage device—the Backup Plus Slim. Both offerings feature a new easy-to-use software interface titled Seagate Dashboard which provides a one-click backup solution plus a free Seagate Mobile Backup app on iOS and Android mobile devices.

During GITEX 2014 Seagate is also set to introduce its newest portfolio of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions specifically designed for today’s small businesses with up to 50 employees.

Exchanging views on the future of the global storage industry, this year Seagate will be welcoming to GITEX a number of senior executives and solution specialists including Sofocles Socratous, VP of Sales & Marketing EMEA, Christian Assaf, Senior Sales Manager MEA, and Lance OHara, Sr. Director of Global Product Management.

Many of Seagate’s latest solutions at GITEX will be featured in Hall 3, Stand Number C3-4 in partnership with Concentration Computers (CCC).
