Mobilk - Providing support and spreading smiles to all areas of the Sultanate this Ramadan, Ooredoo’s 15th Goodwill Journey arrived to a celebratory audience at their exciting finale event in Muscat Grand Mall. Held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, the event saw the Goodwill team and supporters gather to mark the end of their two-week voyage. Enriching communities and enhancing digital lives, the dedicated volunteers visited a total of 11 towns to establish new community projects and support existing Ooredoo programmes and incubators.
Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “The number of initiatives undertaken as part of our Goodwill Journey grow each year and it is thanks to our volunteers and partners who give their time so freely that we can reach out to so many people. Our Journey would not have been possible without the support of organisations such as the Omani Women’s Association, Ministry of Social Development and the Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children. These important collaborations allow us to contribute to the community and impact people’s lives so meaningfully, irrespective of how old they are or where they live.”
Co-sponsoring the milestone 15th Goodwill Journey, Sixt Rental provided the 20 volunteers with 8 cars to travel across the country and bring joy and support to communities, establishing new friendships and creating new memories with 15 impactful initiatives. Volunteers visited numerous locations, including Sohar Hospital where they built an outdoor playground as well as Oman Association for the Disabled. They also helped less fortunate families in Mudhaibi refurbish their homes. Two incubators were set up in Rustaq, Mirbat and Yanqul, bringing the total number of incubators to 16. These initiatives help teach women vocational skills training such as sewing and soap making to empower them to become financially independent by setting up their own business. Many women who have graduated from such incubators have gone on to achieve economic success and joined the Sultanate’s growing small and medium enterprises (SME) sector.
With 15 years under its belt, Ooredoo’s Goodwill Journey has impacted people’s lives across the Sultanate. Launched in 2005, the Journey is a key part of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. It aims to boost the sustainable development of local communities across Oman.
